Repair Systems — Rising Damp
Salt-affected render systems
Technical product reference for salt-affected render systems — Westox Plastalite Rehabilitation Render for masonry and brick walls affected by rising damp and salt contamination.
Salt-affected render systems
Salt-affected render systems are renovation renders formulated to tolerate residual salts within masonry walls after rising damp treatment. Standard renders fail prematurely when applied over salt-contaminated substrates due to salt crystallisation pressure — renovation renders accommodate ongoing salt migration. They are applied after chemical DPC injection and substrate preparation as part of a complete rising damp remediation system. Westox Plastalite Rehabilitation Render is designed for this application. Confirm current specifications with Westox technical before specifying.

Rehabilitation render — salt-affected masonry and rising damp
System Description
Westox Plastalite Rehabilitation Render is a pre-bagged renovation render for masonry and brick walls affected by salt contamination from rising damp, marine exposure, or ground salts. Renovation renders for salt-affected substrates are formulated to tolerate residual salts within the wall that continue to migrate after treatment, reducing efflorescence and render failure caused by salt crystallisation pressure. The rehabilitation render is applied after chemical DPC injection and substrate preparation as part of a complete rising damp remediation system. Old salt-contaminated plaster and render must be removed before application. Confirm current product technical data sheet, water ratio, coat thickness, coverage, adhesion primer requirements, and full system design with Westox technical before specifying.
Technical Properties
- Rehabilitation render for salt-affected masonry — tolerates residual salts migrating through the wall after DPC treatment
- Used as part of complete rising damp system after chemical DPC injection and substrate preparation
- Confirm water ratio, coat thickness, coverage, and primer specification from current Westox Plastalite Rehabilitation Render TDS
Limitations
- Confirm current product formulation and system specifications with Westox technical before specifying
- Not suitable for application over salt-contaminated substrates without prior salt removal and substrate preparation — confirm preparation requirements with Westox
- Rising damp source must be addressed (chemical DPC injection) before rehabilitation render application
