Edge forms & accessories
Galvanised steel or PVC edge form angle — technical reference for slab edge deterioration in Australian remedial building practice. Covers system selection, product comparisons, and brand equivalents.
What is edge forms & accessories?
Edge forms are steel or plastic angle section profiles pinned or adhesive-anchored to slab perimeters and step edges to contain and shape repair mortar placed at slab edges, step nosings, and kerb returns where a free-standing vertical formed face is required without full framework. Common applications include slab edge spall repairs on carpark decks, step nosing reinstatement on stair flights, and kerb and gutter edge repairs where mortar would otherwise slump before achieving sufficient green strength to self-support. The form section is levelled and aligned to the finished profile before mortar is placed against it, and stripped after initial set or left permanently as an edge angle protection depending on product type. Steel angle forms are reusable; plastic 'stay-in-place' forms provide permanent edge protection and are sometimes specified on carpark deck edges as a protective element. Essential on any edge repair where a sharp, defined arris is required.

System Description
Fix with concrete nails or screws. Leave in place or strip after cure. Ensures clean arris on repaired edge.
Technical Properties
- Ensures consistent slab edge profile and prevents mortar slumping during placement
- Steel and plastic angle forms are reusable across multiple pours
Limitations
- Requires precise levelling and alignment before mortar placement
- Profile must suit local edge geometry — custom forms may be required
